welcome!
first and foremost, please be kind to each other! this hobby is meant to be an escape from the outside world. don't be a dick and ruin it for everyone. do not cross ic/ooc lines. any type of harassment will not be tolerated. members are encouraged to contact us with any issues that need to be addressed so we can find a way to resolve them fairly and equitably.

at esteem, we want to encourage activity and creativity. please don't retreat to customs or wire and make others feel unwelcome. don't be a role hog! reach out to new members, post in the subcomm, host member activities, comment around on the friends page, and keep your friends list updated.

please note: your mods are human! we'll always try to be as transparent with our members as possible. we may make mistakes. please let us know so we can do our best to resolve them for you. sometimes real life situations happen and adds/removals may be delayed. if this is the case, we will communicate to the best of our ability.

our rules are a work in progress. as we receive feedback, we may tweak them for clarity or to fit our members' needs. if we make any changes we will let the community know.

applying
before applying, please make sure:
  • that your celebrity is credible. if they're only famous on instagram or tik tok, they probably don't count. if you're in doubt, ask us! no one under the age of 18, please
  • your username can be any variation of your celeb's real name or stage name. nicknames are fine as long as it is a well-known or accepted nickname
  • you have two future-dated posts in your journal: an ic friends only post and a contact post with comments screened
  • wire is completely optional. we know that there are some who prefer customs and we want to make everyone feel welcome, no matter their preference. friends page activity is strongly encouraged so if you do prefer to use wire, please don't forget to log in and show our members some love
  • you've submitted your examples. at least two examples of any kind are required! they can be anything you’d like to share with us as long as it shows off your writing (example: entries, scenes, narratives, etc)

rejected applications will be deleted. we will not be responding to comments that inquire why an applicant was denied. you will never be rejected if your application is missing anything and we'll let you know if there's anything else we need from you.

updates & activity
INTROS for the time being, new members are required to make a post in affirmation within 72 hours of acceptance. this post can be anything you want: a question, lyrics, a link to a quiz, etc. members are required to respond to a majority of the comments on their intro post. failure to intro and respond to most comments will result in removal.

we know introductions are a stale activity. because of this, we will be taking suggestions and then we will poll our members on how they'd like intros to be handled once the community is established. we are open to potentially doing group posts or another form of introduction activity as long as we can find a reasonable way to make new members feel welcomed and remove anyone who is doa.

UPDATES updates are required every three weeks.
  • every other update may be a placeholder or something simple. you may not post two placeholder updates in a row and placeholders cannot be backdated. your very first update as a member may be a placeholder
  • once every six weeks, you must post something substantial in your journal. this update can be anything you like so we encourage you to be creative! feel free to write a narrative, go html heavy, create mood boards with captions, make a playlist with a description, etc. all we ask is that there are at least 250 words in your substantial updates. substantial updates cannot be backdated
  • to encourage the option for narratives and other creative updates, we will allow you to disable comments on your substantial posts if you'd like. this is completely optional
  • if you choose to disable comments on a substantial post, you must make a good faith effort to respond to a majority of comments in your next update

ACTIVITY as a way keep things moving, we ask that you post in affirmation at least once a calendar month! you may post as often as you like, but one post a month is required and we ask that you make a good faith effort to respond to all of the comments. if you’re unable to respond to comments for some reason, please drop us a line in the members post to let us know. we will be tracking your subcomm post activity on the taken list.
if you're a new member who is added after the 15th of the month, the subcomm activity requirement is waived.

if you are unable to meet our update and activity requirements for any reason, please comment the members dropbox and let us know. we are happy to work with you and grant an extension or hiatus on a case by case basis.

overrides & misc
you will be at risk for override if:
  • you have not posted in affirmation within 72 hours of being added or you have not responded to a majority of the comments within 5 days
  • you have failed to respond to a majority of comments on at least one of your updates posted within a 6 week timeframe
  • your friends list is outdated by more than two weeks and you have not yet met your subcomm actvity requirement
  • you fail to comment an activity check

please comment the droppox to determine if a member is eligible for override. if you apply without asking first, your application will be deleted.
